Weekly Homework AssignmentsUnless specified otherwise, the exercises are from the textbook for the course:by Kenneth A. Ross The exercises listed in the weekly assignments are the ones to be submitted. However, you should read the corresponding sections in the book and make sure you understand the material and can do the other exercises in the sets from which the assignment was selected. If you have difficulties with any of that, you should ask in class, the CA, or me. Also: CTL offers free tutoring for undergraduates in Math115. Students can visit drop-in tutoring sessions with a Resident Tutor, or make an individual appointment with a tutor. Our tutors are undergraduates at Stanford who have taken Math115 previously. They primarily mentor students in the problem solving process and with course-specific study skills. Midterm and Final ExamsThere will be a Midterm exam and a Final, both takehome. The first paragraph of each will be: `` Answer all the problems. You may consult books, friends and relations until you feel ready to write the exam. Once you start writing , and until you finish, it is an honor code ``closed book, no notes and no communications'' exam.
The midterm and the final will be posted at least a week before the due date. This should give you time to review the relevant material and to answer the questions without time pressure. The due date for the midterm will be October 28, (replacing HW#5). |
