Teaching
I’m not teaching this year, but you can find links to the webpages for old courses to the left.
I taught Math 51 at Stanford several times, and I really enjoyed the mix of linear algebra and multivariable calculus in the course. One reason we combine these topics:
A new driver will quickly observe
It’s simpler to go straight than to swerve.
We make use of that
And use things that are flat
To study objects that curve.
I wrote the text Differential Vector Calculus which is used in Math 51. If you’re currently enrolled in the class, I’d very much appreciate your feedback. Please feel free to email me with any comments, complaints, or suggestions!
