About the class:. Math 122 is the third in the undergraduate abstract algebra sequence. It covers module theory, with an emphasis on the representation theory of finite groups. isThe material is useful in various parts of mathematics and its applications, including applications in chemistry and physics.
Assessment: . We will have a midterm examination and a final examination. Both will be take home. The final will be due on Friday, June 7. In addition, there will be five problems sets, due on Ap[ril 11, April 25, May 9, May 23, and May 30. Homework will count 40%, the midterm 20%, and the final 40%.Topics: The class will cover Chapters 10, 12, 18, and parts of 19 as time permits.
