**Course Description:** Math 113 will cover the basics of
linear algebra from a theoretical standpoint. We will cover properties of
vector spaces, linear transformations, and spectral decompositions. The
emphasis will be on theoretical aspects of these topics and producing rigorous
proofs of results rather than on computation. The course will also focus on
teaching students how to write proofs and doing so will be expected on the
homeworks. Math 113 is appropriate for students who have already taken Math 51,
although the latter is not a requirement.
