I'm the CA for Math 215B in Winter 2012. You can reach me at carym at math dot stanford dot edu. My office is on the first floor of the department, room 381M.
My office hours are
- Tuesday 11am-12pm
- Friday 11am-12pm
I was also the TA for Math 51H in Fall 2011.
I'm a student of Ralph Cohen. My main interest is the topology of manifolds.
Last year, I learned about surgery on simply-connected manifolds, cobordism and the Pontrjagin-Thom construction, Steenrod squares and the cohomology of classifying spaces, vector bundles and K-theory, and other topics in algebraic topology.
This year, I'm focusing on some of the recent foundational work in stable homotopy theory, with the aim of applying it to questions involving manifolds.
- The Stable Homotopy Category
- Some Facts About QX
- The Bar Construction and BG
- Unoriented Cobordism and MO
I'm participating in the "xkcd" discussion group with Aaron Mazel-Gee and Eric Peterson. I also come to the Topology Progress Seminar and the No Progress Seminar at Stanford.
In 2010-2011, I did the KIDDIE colloquim with Amy Pang. The old page for it is here.
