Boltzmann Equation; Recent Results and Open Problems

Abstract:

We will survey the recent results on the Boltzmann equation in kinetic theory. These include the study of Boltzmann shocks, Green's functions, and thermal transpiration. The emphasis is on the quantitative estimates of Boltzmann solutions. We will then describe open problems on boundary effects, and the relation of Boltzmann equation to particle systems on the one hand, and the fluid equations on the other hand.
