Some ideas for the Comparison of Shapes given as Point Cloud Data

Abstract:

The problem of Shape Recognition and Matching is ubiquitous in the fields of Computer Vision and Computer Graphics, and has received a great deal of attention from researchers in recent years. Inspired by Gromov's work on metric spaces, this talk will propose a framework for understanding several previously distinct practical approaches to Shape Comparison. This approach also yields a new algorithm for comparing point cloud data.
