Recent Trends in Optimal Transportation

Abstract:

The classical Monge-Kantorovich optimal transportation problem has been studied and used for decades in economics and probability theory. There have been recently unexpected analytical advances, connecting this problem with many topics in partial differential equations and geometric inequalities. After reviewing the classical theory, I will exemplify these new directions by presenting recent progress concerning various Sobolev-type inequalities.
