A few mathematical challenges of probabilistic/physical flavor

Abstract:

I will discuss a simple "gambling problem" whose analytical solution is open and may benefit from good old fashioned 19th century tools. In the opposite direction I will show some new analytical tools, involving "matrix valued orthogonal polynomials" and discuss problems in physics and probability where these could be of use.
