Scattering resonances in one dimension

Abstract:

In this joint work with David Bindel we revisit, computationally and theoretically, the old subject of resonances in one dimensional scattering. I will present my collaborator's MATLAB codes which work beautifully in real time and two recent results which were inspired by the numerics:
1) The symmetry of bound and antibound states in the semiclassical limit
2) A stability estimate explaining some strange phenomena arising when "abstract" potentials with known resonances are approximated numerically.
