Proposals for a Wedding Between Geometry and Wavelets
|
|
Representing and analyzing multiscale geometrical structures is a major challenge for multidimensional signal processing (images, video, medical, seismic data...), and for understanding human visual perception. The underlying mathematics, lying between harmonic analysis and geometry, are mostly unexplored, despite recent attempts that will be explained. We shall further describe the construction of new orthonormal bandelets that yield asymptotically optimal approximation theorems of geometrically regular images. Image processing applications will be shown. |
