visit their “Map & Directions” page. Buses and Shuttles If you don’t want to rent a car or take a cab or shuttle, you can get to Palo Alto from either the San Francisco or San Jose Airport by train.
From San Francisco Airport: You will first need to take a BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit) train
(BART schedule here) or
taxi from the airport to the Millbrae train
station and then catch a CalTrain southbound (train schedule here) to the Palo Alto
station (if you are staying at the Sheraton Palo Alto Hotel) or to the California Avenue station (if you are staying at the Hotel California)—the
Stanford Terrace Inn is between these two stations. From San Jose Airport: The Caltrain/Amtrak Station is 3.3 miles from the Airport. There is no direct shuttle or bus from the Airport to the station.
Instead, catch the VTA Airport Flyer, which makes frequent stops between the Airport
and the Santa Clara CalTrain Station, or take a taxi to the San Jose CalTrain Station. Take the Northbound train (schedule here) to the California Avenue station (if you are
staying at the Hotel California) or the Palo Alto station (if you are staying at the Sheraton Palo Alto Hotel—the Stanford Terrace Inn is between
these two stations. Please note that, although the combined fares for this method of transportation are considerably lower than the alternatives, the convenience
is also considerably less. We are pleased to announce that a banquet in honor of Paul's birthday will be held at 7:00 p.m.
on Friday, September 15, at the Palo Alto Westin hotel. Spouses, family, and friends are all welcome. A reception will precede the dinner at 6:30. Your
individual contribution is $50 (or $20 for student attendance). Please contact Pat Cahill (cahill “at” math.stanford.edu) no later than Monday, September 11th with your dinner reservation.
Remember to mention whether you'd like the chicken or the vegetarian entrée (the default is chicken).Getting to Palo Alto
