Getting to the Cardinal Hotel
For driving directions to the Cardinal Hotel from the San Francisco and San Jose airports, visit the Cardinal Hotel's web page. On that page, in addition to directions and a map, you will also find a list of shuttle bus
companies that serve both airports. Phone numbers and estimated transportation charges are also listed.
If you don't want to rent a car or take a cab or shuttle, you can get to Palo Alto from the San Francisco Airport by train. You will first need to take
a BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit) train from the airport to the Millbrae train station (BART schedule here) and then catch a
CalTrain southbound to Palo Alto (train schedule here). Please note that, although the combined fares for this method
of transportation are considerably lower than the alternatives, the convenience is also considerably lower.

Banquet
To honor Leon, a reception, followed by dinner at the Stanford Faculty Club, will be held on Saturday evening (the 17th). Spouses, family, and friends
are all welcome. There is a nominal cost of $40 for general attendance and $20 for students to attend.
Please contact Pat Cahill no later than September 12th with your
dinner reservation. Remember to mention whether you'd like the chicken or the vegetarian entrée (the default is chicken). Also, if you have special
dietary considerations, please let us know that, as well.
